March 12-18 is the official AmeriCorps Week! We are currently hosting one AmeriCorps Member Grady Graham who serves as our Environmental Education and Outreach Coordinator. In this position he coordinates and implement outdoor experiential learning experiences for K-12 students all over Mason County. Many of these students will be attending their first field trips in 3 years due to COVID-19. A recent highlight from his year of service so far was volunteering with a community partner Capitol Land Trust to help with their 7th grade field trip at the Bayshore Preserve. He helped led the Stream Life Station where students surveyed Benthic Macroinvertebrates to assess the health of Johns Creek.
"My service in AmeriCorps has been extremely impactful on my life. It has helped me find my passion in Environmental Education and has provided me with many challenges along the way. I am looking forward to the rest of our field trips and helping students unlock the wonders of the outdoor classroom."
