On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, Saint Martin’s University announced the launch of its first comprehensive campaign, For Every Saint: The Campaign for Saint Martin’s Abbey and University. The campaign, with a goal of $100 million in current support and future gift commitments, will raise critical funds to ensure that Saint Martin’s 127-year-old legacy of “empowering students ... to make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of others” continues for current and future Saints.
“Saint Martin’s University nurtures both community spirit and the individual leaders that shape our collective future,” said Tedi Reynolds '71, a member of the Saint Martin’s University Board of Trustees and co-chair of the campaign steering committee. “Saint Martin’s is an essential institution, especially in the current turbulent and uncertain times. We can employ the same vision and bold leadership evidenced by our Benedictine founders over 125 years ago to ensure Saint Martin’s remains accessible and relevant for future generations.”
The For Every Saint campaign reflects the university’s commitment to bringing together “people, place and purpose” to serve and promote the common good. Funds raised through this campaign will help the university 1) enhance academic excellence and innovative program development, with particular attention to attracting and retaining diverse and dedicated faculty; 2) construct, and create through renovation, modern facilities that promote community and bolster student learning and development; and 3) dramatically increase scholarships and holistic support for our undergraduate and graduate students.
“Through decades of change and growth, Saint Martin’s has become a comprehensive institution offering transformational undergraduate and graduate programs to one of the most diverse student populations in the Pacific Northwest,” shares Saint Martin’s President Roy Heynderickx, who is retiring this June.
Over the last 14 years, Saint Martin’s has added graduate programs, including its first doctoral degree; increased undergraduate and graduate enrollments; and tripled its endowment. The university was also twice named among the “Top 40 Most Transformative Colleges” by Money magazine; consistently ranked in the Top 10 best value among Regional Universities in the West by U.S. News and World Report; and was recognized as the first Purple Heart University in Washington state. “With these accolades and with events like our Saint Martin’s Gala and initiatives like the Science and Nursing Initiatives, we have seen our family of supporters grow, all in support of our students.”
As of May 1, 2022, the university has raised more than $82 million towards the For Every Saint campaign. All alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and friends of Saint Martin’s are warmly invited to participate in For Every Saint: The Campaign for Saint Martin’s Abbey and University. “As a comprehensive campaign, every gift in support of any purpose benefiting Saint Martin’s will be recognized toward the $100 million goal,” shares Saint Martin’s University Interim Vice President of Institutional Advancement Katie Wojke.
