Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland, who represents Washington's 10th district in the U.S. Congress, has been vocal on social media regarding current political and educational issues. Strickland replaced Denny Heck in 2021 and has since been an active advocate for accessible education policies.

On March 20, 2025, Strickland addressed her concerns to the Republican members of the House and Senate via Twitter. She questioned whether they would allow President Biden to dismantle the Department of Education, stating: ".@HouseGOP and @SenateGOP, we’re looking at you. Will you bend the knee again and let @POTUS rip away the Dept. of Ed from American children? The people you represent don’t want this either."

The following day, March 21, 2025, Strickland tweeted a critique aimed at Elon Musk's influence and a challenge to the Secretary of Defense: "Even @elonmusk’s DOGE knows DOGE is lying. Hopefully @SecDef can list 5 things he’s done, or his job is getting cut next."

Later that same day, Strickland shared her engagement with students during a meeting with her inaugural Youth Advisory Council at Franklin Pierce School District (FPSD): "I met with the students at @FPSD402 for the second meeting of my inaugural Youth Advisory Council. Students continue to navigate a tough environment - no thanks to @elonmusk and @POTUS. I will always fight for fair policies that make education accessible for all."
