Strickland, who succeeded Denny Heck in Congress, shared a series of tweets expressing her views on various political issues.
On February 3, 2025, Strickland criticized Trump and his supporters for their focus. She stated that "Trump and his MAGA extremist cronies are never focused on lowering costs. Instead, they only sew distrust and chaos. Trump simply does not care for you, or your family. He only cares about himself."
The following day, February 4, 2025, she questioned Trump's stance on Medicare in light of Elon Musk's involvement with government programs. Strickland tweeted: "Trump promised he wouldn’t touch Medicare but Elon Musk now has access to your Medicare benefits and he’s determined to destroy government. Will Trump keep his promise and stand up to President Musk?"
On February 5, 2025, Strickland commented on President Musk's decision regarding USAID with skepticism towards his leadership style. She posted: "ICYMI: President Musk single-handedly ended USAID. Who put this billionaire weirdo in charge? Isn't this the censorship he claims to hate?"
