Meet Linnea Weilacher, a first generation student in the Nursing program at Centralia College.
"In September 2019 I was laid off from a great paying security job. This is when I decided to go back to college and finish this time. I chose nursing
because this is what I wanted to do after high school. I am most happy helping others and I have previous experience working in various long term care
and independent living facilities."
What advice does Linnea have for other First Gen students?"Be sure to put yourself and your future first. Make that your number one priority and keep
setting goals, no matter how small, to reach your ultimate goal - whatever that may be for you. Remember, nothing worth achieving comes without effort
and sacrifice. So don't let doubt, negativity, or how hard it may get sway you from reaching your goal. Be sure to have an action plan to deal with these
obstacles so you can refocus your energy towards what will benefit you on your journey. And have fun! It's about the journey not just the destination."
