The Lewis County Planning Commission Will Hold Series Of Public Meetings

The Lewis County Planning Commission will hold a series of public meetings to consider the YMCA’s proposal to rezone approximately 500 acres of lands north of Mineral Lake from Forest Resource Land to Master Plan Resort. YMCA stated in their application that they intend to develop a youth camp including cabin and tent sites for roughly 400 campers and 100 staff, as well as trails and a dock.

The Planning Commission will hold two workshops on April 26 and May 24, 2022, at 6:00pm, for Community Development staff to present the YMCA’s proposal and for the commissioners to ask questions. The public is invited to watch and listen to the workshops via Zoom or YouTube. There will be no public comments or questions taken at these two workshops.

The first opportunity for the public to provide comments to the Planning Commission will be set following the second workshop. It is anticipated that the public may begin submitting written testimony on the proposal starting June 9, 2022. A public hearing, where the public is invited to provide oral testimony to the Planning Commission, is tentatively scheduled for June 28, 2022 at 6:00pm.

Dates and times are subject to change. Please check the Planning Commission event calendar for the most up-to-date workshop and testimony opportunity information at https://lewiscountywa.gov/.../community-development/events/.
