Statement on Injured Officers from Interim Chief Rich Allen

Newsrelease

Yesterday, two Olympia Police Department Officers were stabbed while responding to a 911 call in west Olympia, and the suspect in the incident was shot. Our officers have both been released from the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery. We are grateful they will be okay.

Our thanks go out to the Olympia Fire Department for their support, the Providence St. Peter Hospital emergency room staff for their care of our officers, and to the community. We appreciate the expressions of concern and well wishes for our officers.

The Capital Metropolitan Independent Investigation Team is handling the investigation of the incident. All questions about the incident and the investigation should be directed to them. The Team’s Public Information Officer is Sgt. Shannon Barnes of the Lacey Police Department, and can be reached at 360-239-2633.
