Schoolaward2

Centralia College recently issued the following announcement on March 11.

At Centralia College, the awarding of tenure follows an intensive three-year process that includes student, peer, and supervisory evaluations, classroom observations, and reviews of course syllabi and student assessment tools, including exams and homework.

The Centralia College Board of Trustees granted tenure to the following faculty members at its March 10 meeting:

  • Joe Burr, Transitional Education
  • Dan Hagen, Information Technology
  • Mary McClain, Business
  • Andrea Seabert, Advising/Counseling
  • Matt Young, English
“The college is so fortunate to have their expertise, ongoing contributions to the college community, and dedication to helping students,” said Dr. Joyce Hammer, vice president of Instruction. “I also want to thank the students, faculty members, and deans who served on all of the committees and dedicated many hours contributing to the tenure process.”

In addition to the classroom evaluations, probationary teachers are evaluated for their committee work, student academic advising, service to the college and community, and availability to students. Students, faculty members, and deans serve on the tenure committees, evaluating and mentoring probationary teachers during the tenure process.
