Lewis County officials are hoping to receive more funds via grants to help locals amid the COVID-19 fallout, The Daily Chronicle reported.
Washington's Department of Commerce Community Outreach Program Manager Stephen Dunk and Small Communities Initiate Program Manager Jon Galow spoke with the county’s Board of Commissioners about the Commerce’s Community Development Block Grant. That fund is set to issue $7 million to counties, cities and towns in the state.
Galow told the Daily Chronicle the money should be used for public service expenses like utilities, mortgage.
“That total $7 million will go to about 200 jurisdictions,” Galow told the Daily Chronicle. “We are going to combine the funds in each county, in Lewis County’s case, it’ll be Lewis County and all the cities and towns in Lewis County will start together … I can tell you the estimated amount is about $385,000.”
The application will be open soon.
