Puget Sound Pipe & Supply Co., a pipe valve and fitting manufacturer based in Kent, plans to build a new warehouse on the West Plains to serve clients in Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana.

The new warehouse is being built north of the Spokane International Airport on over 4.5 acres of land. It's set to provide 16,000 square feet of space for warehousing purposes and 4,000 square feet for office purposes. The property will have an additional 3 acres of outdoor space for storing pipes.

The project will move forward in two phases, the first of which will begin this summer. Completion is set for the first quarter of 2021.

Koltin Strainer, president of the century-old company, says the expansion will support the local economy by employing up to 20 staff once it's running at full capacity and also by using local subcontractors for the project.

"Being a smaller, family-owned company, we understand what it’s like to be up against some of the headwinds of larger corporations,” he told the Spokane Journal. “Whenever we are coming into a new territory, we like to make sure that we’re supporting not only the local economy but also getting to know the local customers there.”

This is not the manufacturer's first time expanding their operation to new locations. There are currently eight facilities in Washington and two in Alaska.
