WA STATE COUNCIL OF FIREFIGHTERS: WSCFF Statement on National Events

Meeting 07

WS Council of Firefighters issued the following announcement on June 9

As the leadership of the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters (WSCFF) endeavors to articulate our thoughts on all that has happened in the past several weeks, we have reached one conclusion: the only wrong thing would be to say nothing at all.

We represent more than 9,000 union fire fighters throughout the state who have the honor of serving the people of Washington 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Our members believe every life is precious, and everyone deserves fair and equal treatment. We have observed the effects of a global pandemic and social injustice in our communities and we are listening.

The WSCFF stands with our brothers and sisters in the house of labor. Unions have always stood for human dignity, justice, and equality for all.

Though our members may have varying opinions and political views, we remain committed to the health, safety, and well-being of all people. When you call, we care and we respond–no matter what.

To our members – just as you always answer the call for the communities you serve, know that the WSCFF is always here for you. Stay safe, stay strong, stay union.
