With the rest of Washington State still under the first phase of the “Safe Start Washington” plan, Lewis County received the go-ahead from Spokane to proceed towards Phase II.
The Washington State Department of Health approved the county’s Phase 2 variance application a few days after Gov. Jay Inslee expressed his own approval. June 1 is when the state is set to enter Phase II.
“I think it’s important to think about our variance application in terms of going to Phase 2 but also in that it lays the framework for our readiness going forward,” Lewis County Public Health and Social Services Director J.P. Anderson told the Daily Chronicle.
Under Phase II, businesses such as real estate, salons and barbers are allowed to return to operations following the implementation of the proper health and safety guidelines as dictated by the state.
As a condition of approval, Lewis County must stay in Phase II for at least three weeks before moving forward, according to the Daily Chronicle.
