Public Works Repair Crew Receives Our Heroes Wear Dirt Award

0Comments

Last night (12/1) our City Council learned about the “Our Heroes Wear Dirt” award our Public Works Repair Crew received at the American Public Works Association’s northwest fall conference in Spokane on October 6. The award is only given out every 2 or 3 years to field staff who went above and beyond in their service to the community.

On July 15, 2022, the after-hours, standby technician received a call about a broken water line on 21st Court SE at Golf Club Road SE. When the 5-member repair crew responded, little did they know the repair work would take literally all night – due to multiple issues that kept popping up. Even though it took until nearly 4 a.m., the tired crew did not stop until they were able to get water service restored to our community members. THANK YOU!

Congratulations on a job well done!
