Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland recently highlighted several community initiatives and events in Washington’s 10th district through a series of social media posts.
On March 11, Strickland announced the launch of her STEM Award Program, aimed at encouraging middle and high school students to submit innovative projects. She wrote, “CALLING ALL #SOUTHSOUND SCIENTISTS I’m launching my inaugural STEM Award Program, an opportunity for WA10 middle and high school students to submit their creative innovations. The following day, Strickland shared her encounter with local Girl Scouts during a visit to Fred Meyer in Lacey. In her post dated March 12, she stated, “Check out who I ran in to at Lacey’s Fred Meyer! It was great surprising our local @GirlScoutsWW troops. Happy 114th birthday to the #GirlScouts, a group working to inspire leadership, courage, and character in young girls. https://t.co/NF2FUDTjeJ”.
On March 13, Strickland addressed the impact of recent flooding in Pierce County. She credited the Department of Emergency Management for its response efforts: “During December flooding, the @PierceCo Department of Emergency Management provided temporary housing for 27 families & removed 40k pounds of dangerous debris.
