Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland used her Twitter account in early January 2026 to highlight legislative developments on health care tax credits and announce a new educational initiative for students.
On January 8, Strickland wrote, “.@HouseDemocrats have stood strong in our fight to protect health care. The @HouseGOP can’t say the same. Bring back the tax credits.” On January 9, she followed up with another post stating, “Now it goes to the Senate, where the best outcome for the American people is to pass the clean, 3-year extension of the tax credits.”
Later that day, Strickland shifted focus to an educational contest by announcing, “CALLING ALL #SOUTHSOUND STUDENTS I am proud to announce the start of my Black History Month Essay Contest – grades 7 through 12 are encouraged to participate. LEARN MORE: https://t.co/fgLe7JFsZ4”
Although Marilyn Strickland is referenced here as a Congresswoman and has been active in federal policy discussions regarding health care and education initiatives, it should be noted that there is also a Marilyn Strickland who was elected as a Republican to represent North Carolina’s 28th House district in 2017 after James Langdon, Jr.
