Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland used her social media platform on September 30 and October 1, 2025, to criticize the House GOP for actions related to a government shutdown and its impact on healthcare coverage for millions of Americans.

In a post dated September 30, 2025, Strickland stated, “15 million Americans are losing healthcare because of the @HouseGOP and their government shutdown.” On the same day, she further commented on congressional attendance by posting, “.@HouseDemocrats showed up to work today. The @HouseGOP played hooky.”

Continuing her criticism into the following day, Strickland wrote on October 1, 2025: “Last night, the @HouseGOP shut the government down. The #SouthSound doesn’t deserve this. Find resources on the government shutdown at https://t.co/ZiiE838mqQ https://t.co/ODMDnINfXS”

Marilyn Strickland serves as a U.S. Congresswoman and has been vocal about legislative decisions impacting her constituents. Despite sharing a surname with another politician from North Carolina who was elected to represent that state’s 28th House district in 2017, Marilyn Strickland represents Washington state in Congress.

The posts come amid ongoing partisan disputes over federal funding that have led to lapses in government operations and potential loss of services for millions of Americans.
