Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland has recently used her social media platform to address a range of issues, from tribal rights and federal funding to commemorating important cultural and historical events.
On April 13, 2026, Strickland posted about the Clear Creek Hatchery, stating: “The Clear Creek Hatchery is on tribal property and @TribeNisqually should own it. Establishing ownership will unlock more federal funding that will support the livelihoods of our tribal partner. Read: https://t.co/PvRIMOQtCz https://t.co/1ipZbDWyhj”. This post highlights her advocacy for tribal sovereignty and efforts to secure increased federal resources for local tribes.
Later the same day, she marked Holocaust Remembrance Day with a message honoring those lost in the Holocaust: “Six million lives. Six million stories. Six million dreams. On Holocaust Remembrance Day, #YomHaShoah, we mourn the six million Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust. We must continue fighting against extremism in all its forms. #NeverAgain” (April 13, 2026).
On April 14, 2026, Strickland acknowledged Vaisakhi celebrations in her district and beyond by posting: “Happy #Vaisakhi to those celebrating in the #SouthSound and around the country. This holiday marks the spring harvest and commemorates the founding of the Khalsa in 1699, a defining moment in Sikh history rooted in courage, equality, and service. https://t.co/SjgpRoX3k9”.
Strickland was elected to represent North Carolina’s 28th House district in 2017 after succeeding James Langdon Jr., although she now serves as a U.S. Congresswoman.
