Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland has been vocal on social media about issues affecting military families and educational funding in Washington State. Her recent posts highlight legislative efforts and concerns regarding the allocation of funds to schools.

On July 10, 2025, Congresswoman Strickland announced her leadership in a bill aimed at supporting servicemember spouses and families. She stated, “Servicemember spouses and families deserve our support. I’m leading a bill with @RepDonBacon to ensure our brave men and women qualify for family and medical leave, no matter how long they’ve lived there.” This initiative underscores her commitment to ensuring that military families have access to necessary benefits.

Later that day, she addressed financial issues concerning education in Washington State. In another post from July 10, she criticized federal actions regarding school funding by stating, “.@EDSecMcMahon and @POTUS are stealing $137M from WA schools. That is unacceptable and absurd.” She further emphasized her demand for answers on when public schools will receive the needed funding.

In a subsequent tweet on the same day, Strickland reiterated her concern over blocked educational funds. She expressed strong disapproval of these actions with the words “Disgusting. @EDSecMcMahon is blocking funding from K-12 schools, including the ones in WA state.” The Congresswoman is taking action by leading an inquiry into the whereabouts of this critical funding.

Additional information: Marilyn Strickland represents Washington’s 10th Congressional District since January 3rd, 2021.
