Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland has recently taken to social media to address several issues impacting her district and the nation, including support for local industry, criticism of federal healthcare policy changes, and concerns about the welfare of vulnerable Americans.
On August 3, 2025, Strickland highlighted her visit with a major shipbuilder in Tacoma, Washington. She wrote, “Good to be back with @safeboats, a major shipbuilder & employer in the @cityoftacoma & WA state. A 100% employee-owned manufacturer for international waters, SAFE Boats shows how our community continues to support our ally, Ukraine, against Russia’s invasion. #SouthSoundMade”.
The following day, Strickland criticized recent federal legislation and its impact on healthcare coverage for older Americans and those with disabilities. On August 4, she posted: “Thanks to @POTUS’ Big Ugly Law that cut #Medicaid and #Medicare, many older Americans and those with disabilities will no longer be able to meet their basic needs. @SecKennedy, do better. Stop dismantling @ACLgov and attacking our most vulnerable communities.”
Continuing her critique on August 5, Strickland stated: “.@SecKennedy and @POTUS are hurting the most vulnerable, including older Americans and those with disabilities. We must hold this administration accountable. That’s why I’m demanding answers and calling for the restoration of @ACLgov.”
Marilyn Strickland was elected as a Republican to represent North Carolina’s 28th House district in 2017 after succeeding James Langdon Jr., though she now serves as a Congresswoman representing a different region.
Her recent posts reflect ongoing debates about federal healthcare funding changes affecting Medicaid and Medicare recipients as well as local efforts supporting Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia.
